WL | Delft Hydraulics, GeoDelft, the Soil and Groundwater unit of TNO and parts of Rijkswaterstaat have joined forces on 1 January 2008 in a new independent institute for delta technology, Deltares. Constant factors: WL | Delft Hydraulics was the place to go for specialist consultancy and applied research relating to water issues. Deltares will provide you with the same services in the area of offshore, coasts, ports, estuaries, rivers & canals, urban water and industrial flow processes. And, as always, you can turn to us for high-quality software. The relevant experience of Deltares as far as NCK is concerned lies in research, development and application of models concerning hydrodynamics, sediment transport and morphodynamics in the coastal zone. A close link between research and practical advisory work warrants a strong interaction with potential end users. Deltares disposes of a unique set of experimental facilities, recognised by the EU as "Large Installation". Another important class of facilities is formed by the wide range of numerical modelling software for coastal dynamics,at various levels of sophistication. Deltares will link GeoDelft expertise about dikes, roads and underground construction with TNO know-how about the subsurface and groundwater and Rijkswaterstaat competences in the fields of integral water management, spatial development ad administrative processes. The result will be a leading international institute in the area of delta technology with the spotlight on technology and society. Combining these resources will allow Deltares to develop knowledge for innovative solutions that make living in deltas and river basins safe, clean and sustainable.
